Funeral services are scheduled for 3 p.m. , at Sardis Baptist Church for Mr. James "Doug" Edmonds, 61, of Gainesville.

The Rev. Marlon Thomas, the Rev. Scott Culpepper and the Rev. James Kanaday will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mr. Edmonds will lie in state at the church at 2 p.m.

Mr. Edmonds died Friday, April 2, 2004, following an extended illness.

A member of Sardis Baptist Church, Mr. Edmonds retired from Coca-Cola. He was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Benji West.

Survivors include his wife, Wilma Ladd Edmonds; sons and daughter-in-law, Mitchell and Alicia Edmonds, Michael Edmonds, Mark Edmonds and Myron Edmonds, all of Gainesville; daughter, Michelle West, Gainesville; mother, Lena Edmonds, Gainesville; brother and sister-in-law, Harold and Linda Edmonds, Gainesville; and grandchildren, Austin and Alex Edmonds, and Brittany West.
